When It Rains | Review | Giveaway

May contain spoilers. Not directly, but if you want to read my review, I will give you plenty of notice when the barest of hint comes.

Book Blurb:
One night changed my life forever.

Beau Bennett has been my best friend since I can remember. He was my first crush before everything came crashing down, and now he wants more, but it's more than I can give him. Things are different now. I wish I could tell him why, but I can't.

I haven’t told anyone.

I never knew how much I really needed him until the day he left for college, and I was completely alone.

Then one day, Asher Hunt rides into town with his dark, captivating eyes and cocky grin. He doesn't care who I used to be, he's simply breathing life into what’s left. People warn me to stay away from him, but he helps me forget the pain that has held me hostage for so long; something I thought was impossible before he walked into my life.

I’ve been hurt.

I’ve been saved.

And I’ve found hope.

I thought my story was written that night, but now I know it was only a new beginning. Until one secret turns my world upside down…Again.

Book Review:
I'm still trying to sift through my thoughts on this book. I went into this book not remembering the book blurb and full of nievity. As I was reading I kept wondering where this was going. I mean, I knew Asher had a secret, but it wasn't until one point in the book that I was able to guess what it was. I'm not even sure how I guessed it, but out of no where, I was like, I think it's this and it was.
The first 3/4's of the book a level 3 on the emotional rating of 1-5 and the last 1/4 of the book was a level 5. I don't mind crying in a book, but this one just broke me. I flat out ugly cried. My husband was all like, are you going to be okay, and I told him not to make fun of me. I find myself hiding in the bathroom, reading and sobbing because I could blow my nose and not get up. As an added bonus, no one had to bare witness to my ugly crying. My son pops in (your kids do that right, like just come in the bathroom when you're in there) and asked me to snuggle him. I was almost done, so I asked him to wait until I could take a shower (and finish up the book.) Then he noticed I was crying, asked me what happened and then asked if it was real. When I told him it was a story he was all like, why are you crying over a story? Then he was all like, I understand kitty cat (that's his nickname for me. a thing we have) then I hear him telling my husband, Daddy, Mommies in the bathroom crying over a story. My husband was all like, I know buddy.
I had to sit right down and write my review while my emotions are raw. I'm not really sure how to rate the book because I was just so sad reading it. When it rains isn't a light hearted, fun read. No, it is deep, real, raw and full of emotion....real life shit here. Something you can totally see happening in your life, if it hasn't happened already.

POSSIBLE SPOILER PARAGRAPH. JUST SKIP IF YOU DON'T EVEN WANT A HINT AS TO WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

For the first 3/4 of the book, I will say 3 1/2 stars. For the last 1/4, I will go 4 stars. I very rarely ever rate books 5 stars. They have to just be It for me. With the authors ability to rip my heart out and make me ugly cry, it is definitely 4-4 1/2 star work. I really wish Asher would have shared his secret a little earlier in the book, I think it would have pushed the star level up a little, just because I felt like most of the emotion happened at the end, but I get why he and the author both chose to wait. It makes you feel exactly why the heroine did because she didn't know. She finds out at the end too and that just pushes the story and the writing over the top. You are shocked and shocked and shocked and was all like, I didn't see that coming.
