Now, let's resume our Remy Riptide Tate and Brooke Dumas show, shall we?
First, let's know that Remy is hot. He is so hot that when Brooke met him and he chased her into the hallway this scene happens:
"His lips curl and he meets my gaze. "Brooke Dumas" he just fucked my name right in front of me....." Brooke, he's just so hot. Everyone wants a picture of him. Even my insides are buzzing from the way he went after you and I'm not even the one he kissed. I've never seen a man go after a woman like that. Holy shit, it's like porn with romance."
Brooke, she is a "has-been." She was an Olympic hopeful sprinter that had the unfortunate event of blowing out her knee. Someone video'd it and was nice enough to put it up on Youtube for the whole world to see. It was her lowest of low. She picked up the pieces, literally, of her life, went to college and has now earned her degree in sport rehab.
This story is based around Remy and Brooke. Remy has hired Brooke to stretch him and be part of his team. He has also hired her because he likes her, wants her to be his, wants to claim her, but really doesn't have the emotional or verbal tools to know how to express himself to her. He shows her through music.
"Fighting is all he knows. It's all he's had that he can control in his life. Growing up, it was pure rejection for Rem. It's damn near impossible to get him to open up. Even with those who've been with him so long."
In Real, we learn about Remy's past, we get to know him just like Brooke gets to know him. We get to find out how primal, alpha-male, emotionally handicap Remy is while he tries to have his first relationship with a women. A relationship that isn't just sex. Don't worry, there is sex, and a ton of angst. I haven't had this much angst since the 8th grade.
The book flows so well. You have the angst beginning, the hot-as-hell middle and the explosive end. I'm so glad that my friends encouraged me to read about Remy and Brooke. I feel like a part of me would be missing and I wouldn't even know it, which I believe is much worse to experience in life. Thank you Katy Evans for sharing you characters with the world.
